Anyone ever do a simple re-ring job?
I am curious if anyone has done a simple re ring job on their 6.0? I bought a truck that has 119k miles on it but it has compression in the 120-190 range in all 4 of the left bank cylinders (didnt check the right). I can give each cylinder a squirt of oil and the compression jumps to the 300's. It was a fleet truck and i am guessing a casualty of improper air filtration as there are only 2 clips left on the air cleaner assembly and a gap was visible between the filter and intake tubing. Oil pressure and everything else checks out good (I could only get it running once) just low compression. I am thinking about pulling it out yanking the pistons out and provided the bearings all look good and there isnt a big ring ridge, hone the block rering it and throw it back in the truck. Thoughts?
