6.0 Exhaust
2006 Stroke, CC, SB, 4WD Lariat, Stock. What make the "jet engine" sound from the exhaust, deleting the cat, some kind of straight through muffler, straight pipe or some combination. I want a deeper tone without the "jet engine" sound. What the best exhaust set up would give me the tone closest to, say, a flowmaster on a gasser?

the jet engine sound is the turbo, as for getting rid of it i do not have the fondest clue to tell ya, i got a mbrp and got the jet engine. theres a guy that i see every once in a while that has a bunch of work on his truck and it doesnt have that, my only guess would be a non vgt turbo

I have a magnaflow 4" turbo back system and deleted the cat. The muffler that came with the system is practically a straight pipe as well and I also have the jet engine sound.
My best guess would be the muffler would be the option your looking for, but from what I have seen out there, most all aftermarkets are pretty much a straight pipe type of muffler. |

Some stock exhaust down pipes had a resonator in them and the turbo sound is very quiet. My stock exhaust was this way which is why I went with the 4" MBRP straight pipe. Try to find a complete stock down pipe with the resonator if you can cause most people have to cut the down pipe to get it out unless it was done with the cab off. Or you could find a resonator and weld it into the down pipe.

If no resonator, would leaving the cat in place with 4" and MBRP muff not make the jet engine sound. Or would I not get much benefit. I would like a little more than just sound. Saw a stroke last week going thru the mall lot with duals that sounded just like I wanted, but I couldn't get up with the guy, had to stop to meet some people.
