Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Hi guys, I got my heads done in December and coming home from the cabin last night I got a bad exhaust leak. I pulled over and looked and saw one of my exhaust manifold bolts had sheared off. I have been hearing a few things from a few guys about it happening but I am wondering if the bolts should have been changed when the truck had the heads done. Some guys are saying they are TTY (Torque To Yield) bolts and shouldn't be reused. Could anybody shed some light on it for me? Just wondering if I should take it back to the shop and complain about them being reused bolts. Thanks in advance guys! Hope you all had a good weekend.

To be honest unless the heads are being sent off to a machine shop there's no reason to take the manifolds off. The bolts were likely never touched which is the case with 90% of the headgasket jobs out there.

Ya they had to send the heads out to get done. I think when your spending the money to get them done 50 bucks or so for the bolt kit wouldn't be that bad. Just wondering what you guys thought and what some guys do when they do a head job. Thanks again guys.
