unison ring on a 03 turbo

has anyone ever heard of a unison ring breaking or know what causes it. i picked up a used 03 turbo and when i pulled it apart to check it out and clean the ring was broken. any help would b great. i can get another one but want to make sure the turbo is worth putting the money into

Yes they sometimes brake

Here are some re-build kits.

Here is a kit to "re-install" the trubo on the engine. 3C3Z 9T514 AD / 1840053C96

If you search the part numbers you many find the kits cheaper, but riffraff has been known to have the cheapest price.

do you know what the blue o-ring is in the re-install kit? i have the 2 new o-rings for the oil drain. thanks for the links man very helpfull

do you know why they break?

it is the oil feed o-ring to the oil cooler housing. i think.

They crack from heat.

I actually have snagged a few unison rings off ebay. The one in my truck is brand new and I won it for $28

Also got a very lightly used one (no wear at all in the cam slot) for $20, it's in my 03 turbo
