Yes they sometimes brake

Here are some re-build kits.

Here is a kit to "re-install" the trubo on the engine. 3C3Z 9T514 AD / 1840053C96
Riffraff Diesel: Ford 6.0L Turbo Reinstall Kit

Reconditioning kit. 4C4Z 9V424 AA / 1870713C91
Riffraff Diesel: Garrett 6.0L VGT Turbo Rebuild Kit

Usion ring. 3C3Z 6C885 A
Riffraff Diesel: Ford 6.0L VGT Turbo Unison Ring

all turbo parts.
G-Pop Shop :: Garrett Rebuild Kit for Ford 6.0L Powerstroke |

If you search the part numbers you many find the kits cheaper, but riffraff has been known to have the cheapest price.

I actually have snagged a few unison rings off ebay. The one in my truck is brand new and I won it for $28

Also got a very lightly used one (no wear at all in the cam slot) for $20, it's in my 03 turbo
