A bigger tip is pretty much just for looks, it won't make it louder.
Did you get 4" or 5" pipe? 5" has a deeper sound to it naturally than the 4" does and the 03 turbo has a better whistle to it also. |

i actually went the cheap route and just cut out the cat and muffler and i welded slightly bigger than stock pipe..its kinda ghetto rigged i know...
saving up for actual exhaust lol |

That'll work. Idk what it'll sound like though with the frequent changes in pipe diameter.
You can find plenty of good kits, 4" or 5", and pretty cheap too. I was just asking about a Diamond Eye kit yesterday I had found online. 5" turbo back straight pipe for about $350. There are good 4" kits for around $300-ish too. If I remember correctly I thought I had seen someone post on a different thread that they saw a 4" kit for about $249, but I don't remember where. |

Only the early 04 has the 03 turbo. Half way through the year Ford changed it. If you have it cutting out the cat and muffler would make it a bit louder but there would also be a resonator before the cat right after the downpipe starts to bend. It looks like a smaller cat. That would have to come off too but itss not as easy if your not doing a while exhaust because itss wrapped in insulation and itss also part of the downpipe.
