Stock Intake Filter alighnment
Hey Guys
I finally got around to putting on a stock intake, only took me 4 years had to get one without a MAF, cause my truck is special. My truck came with an aftermarket one and I really want better filtration and hopeing to reduce a little noise. I got it all alighned and pressed together, yet it still shows a gap..is this normal? there is no leaks and it's seated in there as far as it will go. ![]() Took it for a spin, and noticed that the compressor side of the turbo noise has quieted down alittle bit, less whine, and it idle smoother, and I swear it has more power from a dead stop wtf! Also, I boosted it up a few times, huge reduction in turbo farts. On my aggtow tune I can still hit 25-27lbs of boost. I'm glad I went with a stock unit, and have the piece of mind of great filtration! Looks like I'm gonna be selling my aftermarket intake Last edited by ebusa; 03-22-2012 at 07:57 PM. |

mine looks like it has a gap as well. After 80K+ miles, I have never seen any dirt/dust past the filter.
Just make sure the bottom tabs are in the holes in the filter, if they are, you should be good. |

What aftermarket intake did it have on it?
Did you ever notice any pariculates getting past the filter? |

A gap is normal. It was talked about a lot in the early years.

The aftermarket intake I have is the AFE Stage II, Magnum Force SI CAI. Good intake, I never had a problem with it. I plan on selling it.
