Are 03 to 04 turbo housings, can you swap?

I have on 03 truck with a spanked turbo. Bought a turbo that was supposedly the right one but it is the later one with the different mount on the exhaust housing. Can I just swap my 03 exhaust housing onto the 04 turbo?

The housings are a little different. I initially swapped them and put it in and had no boost at all. Took it back out and found that the housing is about 4mm deeper and does not wrap around the exhaust turbine as close. So I ended up putting the 04 turbo back together and getting creative. I cut the rear mount off with a metal band saw and then ground that area until it sat in the mount perfect. Took about an hour and in and out with the housing 20 times. The mount has a couple of stifining ribs for that rear bolt mount that I ground the turbo to fit in. Put it in, fits good, runs good, boosts good.

yeah the 04 turbo won't directly fit the 03 pedestal and the 04 pedestal won't fit because of the rear intake crossover. you pretty much can't win.......unless you have a metal band saw
