Yellow Universal Coolant

Hey guys, I took my truck into a reputable diesel shop in Idaho and they did an EGR delete for me.

After the fact I noticed when topping off the coolant they used the universal yellow coolant. I am looking in the Degas bottle and see a film along bottom of the bottle, but honestly can't remember if it has been there before or after the EGR delete. They told me that the universal stuff they use is fine with Ford Gold.

I have a coolant filter and ELC coolant on order to do a flush/filter job, but I have to tow my boat to California for a week before I will be able to do it.

I have not noticed any change in EOT/ECT delta changes. All between 4-8F

Can I go to Cali and back without worrying or do I need to flush the coolant system ASAP?

Thanks,
Nick

NO that is not ok from everything I have read up on here... It is NEVER ok to mix any fluids..

I think you MIGHT be ok to tow it though if your gonna be flushing the system with restore/restore+ later anyways...

Maybe someone else can chime in.

Send a message via Yahoo to Dave
Ask them what brand it was. If it was Zerex G-05 you are good to go

Yeah IDK what coolant they used but now I'm sketched out about heading to California running that coolant...As soon as I get back April 1st I'd be doing a full flush.

But if it is going to cause major clogging within the next 2 weeks I will have to do an emergency flush ASAP within the next few days before I leave.

I would be more worried about the flush procedure clogging your oil cooler compared to the coolant...

Usually when a full flush is performed, the oil cooler catches all the crap that gets loosened up during the flush.
