priceless head gasket job

Long story short I got a used 04 f350 in Nov for 10,500 with 200k on it.
Pulled my 40ft trailer came back looked at coolant level and it was low plus the truck ran hot.

Took it to a shop that everyone recommended, and I was told I was one of lucky ones with a blown headgasket problem

first it started with around $9,000 then 12,000 after recommendations of upgrading water pump, powermax turbo etc my final bill came down to a little over 14,000. When its time to pick up the the truck and pay for the bill I'm being told that the radiator had a hole and the head gasket was not actually blown but damped and it was (about to blow)

I then was told to leave the tunes I have on my truck and just drive the truck as is because it already halls A$$. The next day I hook up my 5th wheel and I leave for the trip. Truck has no power and going up 5% hill I cant go faster than 10mph in first gear, 5lb boost, stopping due to running hot on EGT's, oil and coolant.


before I even did the head gasket I already got stranded on the freeway and had a $700 fix at the dealer and I also serviced transmission and rear diff $1200 at the shop I did the head gasket a month before.

So now the shop is saying I need a new tuner and brand new tunes because the SCT tuner I have now is too old....? SCT XCalibrator2 so they want additional $580-$600.

So my question is:
is it really the tunes? or its a blown inter cooler?
someone has contact info to Vikki for some tunes?

So since I own this truck since Nov 2011 I spend close to $16,000 and counting....$$$$

I'm sure you can get away with the sct x2 myself but idk where you took your truck but it sounds like they are getting over on you. But then again I'm not there to look at it myself.

I would probably get a second opinion though for sure.

i woulda said hell no and went else where.

and would have done just the hg and nothing else. i am assuming the rest of the equipment was fine but it has 200k. meh


and i think the shop is A FUKIN DUMBASS. i woulda said kiss my white smoke good bye and left them.

You would hate to see what the price looked like from a good shop. I will spare you the cost rundown. I wonder if there would be any way to get at them in court?

The shop is not A FUKIN DUMBASS.....they screwed this guy and he returned to spend more money with them.......FUKIN SMARTSS....but bad business.....sorry for your bad dead

Find a new shop.

The Xcal 2 is fine. It accepts the same tunes as the X3.

Holy hell, you got bent over backwards for sure, 14k for studs, water pump and a turbo...even if a few other items were included and then they didn't stand behind their work. I'm not sure how you were able to say ok, work on it when they quoted you that much man. Where are you located?
