She finally puked...
Well I did a 1/4 mile run to night on the way home just cause I havent in a long time and got home to see if she puked or not and turns out she did. I read some of the other puking thread but Im just curious what you guys think I should check in my case. EGR welded shut with a small hole to prevent CEL. Pmax running SRL at the time. Never had any coolant loss before. Delta is 6-8 usually on the highway. Not sure if it is maybe my EGR cooler or just a bad degas cap? Any other opinions are appreciated. I do have a the aftermarket toyota warranty with the truck still (bought it used, but my local ford dealer said it was actually one of the better warranties).

I don't think this was such a wise idea - not heard of anyone doing this before. What were your actual temperatures of coolant? |

ECT was only just in the 190 range. Nothing extreme

Weld the hole in the EGR you left open closed

Really? You think a 1/4 in. hole would still give me problems? Dang. I don't want to have to do that again but I might have to.

I also agree, weld it shut. What's the point of even doing a delete if your still allowing exhaust gases into the intake manifold. I also have never heard of guys doing this, just get a cheap used tuner to turn off the CEL if cost is a factor. WHEN your cooler starts to leak you are still at risk of hydro locking your engine. Anytime you see it wet around the cap first thing is to check the pressure the cap relieves at. I personally have never seen anyone that still has their original cap.

I was thinking of putting a block plate in mine as well and drilling a hole to prevent a code from poping up. I am from Cali and we have to smog there i think that is why he has a hole drilled in the block plate so it will pass smog. Not sure is there a better way to do this and still pass smog. Can you get a stock tune that will just shut it off and (FOOL) the machine if they even hook it up to one. i have not had to smog my truck there because i am in the military and over in NC so i am not to sure on the process.

They don't hook it up to the machine just a visual check that all the parts are there. Also since he has the srl he can just have Matt turn off the Egr system and the cel light shouldn't ever come on. Mines an 04 so I just welded a plate in and welded the Egr valve shut and removed the flapper from the valve in the intake... Still looks stock from the outside but it's basically deleted.

Ya I live in ca so thats why I did it that way. I do have the unlimited tow from matt which us just a stock tune with upgraded shifting so I could just use that when I get checked. Man I hate to have to take that pipe out again. I ordered a new degas cap this morning just to be safe.
