max boost?...33psi?

when i first bought my truck the egr valve was unplugged when i floored it i got 25psi boost not towing. the other day i took the egr valve out and cleaned it and plugged it back in it runs great but when i floored it i hit about 33psi boost and 1000 degree egts not towing.im pretty sure the truck is stock...maye their is some mods im not sure about the previous owner had added but i really dont think so. just wondering if thats right seems a little high to me??

i think it a little high but i have hit about 32psi but my egt's were about 800

Max boost stock is 27psi I believe, Ive got a stud safe tune from Cale at bts, I floored mine in 5th ,best 1:1 with the zf6 ,and I barly broke 30psi on stock boost gauge, I didn't hold it long but gauge wasn't climbing fast so. I hit 40psi once with last 05 truck on the dyno with innovatives xrace.

If anything a clean valve might push open under boost releasing boost, shouldnt add any..

I hate to piggyback on a thread but I'm using the Torque app on my phone and the most boost i've seen out of my truck is 22-23 PSI.

Seems like I may have some cleaning to do on the turbo or is that ok for an 03 cause its a little larger turbo?

You will typically get a higher boost reading if you put it under a load (like 45 mph in OD) and roll into the throttle without flooring it. It needs a load to make max boost and most tunes back it off a bit under WOT for safety.

The Torque ap uses the OBD2 port which shows a slightly lower boost PSI then mech guages...

And 03 turbos are exactly the same size wise from all of the other 03-07 turbos...
They just have a different count of fins inside (less fins) which makes it louder.




I usually see 25-27 PSI when Im in high Rpms

and 30-35 PSI when I do what PGreenSVT is talking about (rolling into the throttle on the highway and not letting it downshift)
