Finally got the dog killer turbo! 03

Had a customer truck in the shop with a no start issue, was a hpop failure, anyways guy told me he was ditching the truck when fixed, 03 cc lb 350 king ranch 2wd dually, so I figured I'd ask I'd he would swap me turbos, he didn't care so about an hour later she was on my 05 going for a test run, wow that sucker sings, I love the whistle but almost can't stand it cruising down the road, funny thing I noticed is how dogs freak out and run away or chase it, i ended up buying the guys dually, but I think I'll keep the turbo, it's kinda fun!

I love the sound of those turbos I had an 03 but now I have an 05 thats the only thing I wish I had from my old truck wish I could get my hands on one.

Yeah it's pretty wicked! I feel like it spools up faster, I'm not sure if one can relate but with custom tunes it seems like you have that glory spot when accelerating that's usually just passed half pedal when it kicks in and throws your head back, anyways seems like I hit that point faster, that either means the turbo is quick spooling hitting that point faster or it's more sluggish on spool up and I'm pressing the pedal harder hitting that point...

Does anyone know.. It the " go baby go" point based on throttle positioning or based on boost or what??

Sounds like your stoked. Congrats. What's the difference between the 05 and 03 turbos? Mine is an 05 and what would be the benefit of searching one out?

I just replied to your thread, thats funny! The 03 turbo has fewer veins on the exhaust wheel, makes a wicked loud whistle really bounces around the neighborhood, and makes dogs freak out, lol. I did read somewhere awhile back there worth 15hp, don't know if it's true though..

It will just whistle louder, the compressor housing is a bit larger on the 03 turbos as well.

Hays, how many miles on your clutch? Is your truck tuned?

117k on it, I bought it one owner completely stock with 106k on it. Only was in the shop for a sticking turbo, so I'm assuming its the factory clutch, it never towed anything in its life either. I tuned it a week after I got it, been running it hard with Matt's SRL and towing 25k combined with my 8k tow from him with no issues thus far. Clutch is still holding well surprisingly.

I've got 88k on mine running Cales@ BTS highest "stud safe" tune and clutch will hold WOT in 5th which I believe is the closest to 1:1 in trans, I'm also running 3:73s w/35s,

My buddy grenaded his zf6 clutch on his 08 6.4, mild tuning, said he went to pass a car and boom! Dealer said he sheared the splines on clutch, which I find hard to believe but oh we'll...

I believe someone on here was trying to sell one. Like $350 OBO...
