Good deal?
I'm curious what others may think of this "opportunity". I have an '07 CC SB with 17" wheels that are in immaculate shape. Too bad the tires are junk. It's going to cost me about $1,250 to put 4 brand new tires on. I found a guy selling 2011 20" wheels and tires. He claims 13k miles on the factory Michelin tires with 12/32 still remaining. He also claims the wheels are in like new shape. I bartered with him a little from $1,450 for the set to $1,300 for the set. Thoughts? Would you do the deal? I plan on driving my truck less than 5K miles a year. I do plan on putting on a V-plow.

There's no way I'd pay that kind of money for a tire with no warranty and no road hazard. If you go to a shop and spend the $1,250 if you have a problem with the tire, they take care of it. With the used tires, if you have a separation or any other problem, you're SOL

I realize there is a slight risk that the tire had been abused, run flat, etc. I'm more interested in the general "market" of the used wheels/tires (assuming all is good). Have you seen others get the newer 20" wheels with good tires on them for better or worse than the $1,300 I bartered with this guy?

Some people see it as "well the tires are $250 each and the wheels are $400 each from the dealer, so you're getting a hell of a deal" and then some guys will just sell the whole set for a few hundred bucks. Actually, later today I'm going to pick up a set of 18's with "25,000 miles" for $200. Once in a while on craigslist I see newer 20's with good tires sell for around $800. I just think $1,300 is a little high.

Plenty of local fx4 20'' from the 05-07 go for 6-900 on craigslist here. Ive seen 08 and up 20'' with tires go as low as 950, no higher than 1100. In fact theres some 10' harley 20'' with tires for like, $1000 in baton rouge.
