4 wheel not working after stud job

ok just did studs cab off every thing worked like it should before the cab came off but now when im going down the road and turn the knob for 4x4 i get a hell of a grinding noise i had to pull over lock and unlock then back up and then went down the road noise was gone ive looked at the vacume lines and all looks to be good and hooked up but i could be over looking something here i read a few of the threads here on this but no luck...
