Blown Trans
We had a trans blow today in our 04 F550. Were looking for any suggestions on what to do. If we buy a complete afermarket trans who's got the best one out there and what types of prices are we looking at? Or should we get it rebuilt from a local trans shop? What would be the best long term fix and solution? Any info and opnions are greatly appreciated.

Check out BTS, twisted, and suncoast. I have suncoast parts and had a local guy assemble it. There are several people running any of these three and seem to be the cream of the crop from what I have seen. It should come out cheaper to have it rebuilt vs buying a rebuilt unit and sending yours back as a core.
One thing to make sure of is that if you have it rebuilt, make sure the rebuilder knows the 5r110 tranny. |

I just put a Suncoast in a couple months ago. A local trans shop put mine in as well. He said he could do a heavy duty rebuild that he used for other diesel guys but I said no and got the Suncoast. He was impressed with it.
I got their 5r110 with some upgraded billet parts, converter and aux filter. It was around $5200 with a $2000 core charge. |

I also have a suncoast transmission. I am happy with it.
