Question 2006 help

Hey Guy's,

Been reading the forums for a while. A TON of great info on this site. So much that I have become very confused.....

I have a 2006 F350 fully stock single wheel. Getting about 13 MPG all around. 15 on the highway. I pull a 5th wheel camper some and it weighs about 13,000 and I get 9 MPG towing.

I would like to get better fuel mileage out of the truck and plan on keeping it till the wheels fall off, unless diesel keeps going up. LOL

I don't have a lot of money to spend on the truck. It has about 48,000 on it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for all your help

Yeah I would Delete the egr, put a 4" exhaust on it and get some sort of sct custom tune. If you can keep your foot out of it, the hotter the tune the better for mileage

You need to get some gauges if you do not have them because you need to see the health of your motor get a coolant filter to remove the casting sand high deltas will kill your coolers need a fuel pressure gauge because fuel pressure under 45lbs at WOT kills injectors and pulling a 5er you are in WOT alot mine with 17k on it had pressures of 44lbs at WOT and 50lbs at idle installed the new reg kit (blue spring) pressure went to 58lbs WOT and 62-64lbs at idle just right then do a coolant flush to ditch the Ford Gold and add a CAT EC-1 Rated coolant.
My 06 is used most of the time to pull a 14k Alpenlite 5er and mine gets 9 pulling and 18.4 solo that is about as good as it gets, you can add tunes but be ready for ARP studs because the 6.0 is maxed out on hp now. The max boost is 28lbs solo mine will do 25 but pulling i can get 28+ so i back out of it.

the Edge Insight CTS a great tool, get the expandable probe so if you want to add more to it down the line plus you can run 8 things at one time, if you do fuel on the column that will give you 9 things to look at. Most are Free shipping over $50
Edge Inisight CTS
Things you can add down the line like turbo timer & back up Monitor & fuel pressure
The Edge accessory system (EAS) was created with future expandability in mind Product Code: EDG98603

Lot of guys get the ScanGaugeII for me not as good as the Edge because you can not use the pyro a must if you pull that will take another gauge
ScanGauge - Trip Computer + Digitial Gauges + ScanTools
For Fuel this is what i got but the CTS will do fuel but more money
This is what i got for the fuel pressure gauge, it goes into the test port, this is a cool set up gets the sender away from the heat and viberation of the motor.
