Short block info

first allow me to say this site is a wealth of info for me.

i have a 2006 king ranch that i am having to put a short block in due to a failed lifter. what should my limitations be with the short block. can it be built on just like any other motor.I was in the mid to high 400 on HP on the old motor and 20 like to be able to build on that but understand if i cant. any info you guys can share would be great thanks again for a great site
