Would like opinions on buying this truck

I am new to the forum amd have done a bit of reading but would like your guys honest opinion on what you think.

The truck is an 05 6.0 crew cab long bed 4x4 King Ranch with 86,000 on it. Its for sale by the original owner. He will take under 20k for it.

It has a 4" turbo back exhaust with cat, AFE intake and Bully Dog programer.

He said he has had the folloing things fixed under warranty:

New turbo when it was 10 month old because of a leak.
Had some sort of vapor lock issue around 20k that ended up being a sensor or valve?

Fan clutch replaced in 2011.

It sounds like he has flushed the cooling system regularly and kept on on fluid changes. He is only selling because he bought a 2012. It was mainly used to haul his 5th wheel and I will use it as a DD and towing my 40' trailer.

Couple questions I have:

What do I need to do to prevent any problems in the future?

Will my short 15 min drive to and from work be hard on the EGR system and cause issues?

Thanks,

Terry

Sounds like a pretty darn good deal to me. Youre going to need to stud it, but ya, great deal for sure.

Not many like the Bully Dog, set it on stock and take in on a drive after 20-30 min on flat ground doing 60 check temps max spread on ECT-EOT is 15* set by Ford 8-10* would be good mine run 4*. The 6.0 is maxed out on hp now so it's up to you if you tune it but the best tune is SCT Xcallibrator3 W/ Custom Tunes By Innovative Diesel or Matt at Gearhead but there are others many need ARP studs if so your truck will look like this.
6 0L Ford Power Stroke Engine Head Bolt Problem Photo 1
The 6.0 is not a grocery getter need to run cetane boost in the fuel and once a week drive it like you stole it to keep the egr valve and turbo clean and working use only Ford or Racor filters and run 5w40 Syn oil max 5000mi because of the shear of the oil by the injectors.
I pull a 14k 5er with no problems just need to watch the gauges and get a fuel pressure gauge because under 45lbs at WOT kills injectors and a coolant filter to remove the casting sand then do a flush and ditch the Ford gold coolant install a CAT EC-1 Rated ELC coolant.

I use bullydog. Its not.the best but I havent had any issues becouse of it. Your short time back and forth.to work is whats going.to.kill that truck. Havent you seen diesel prices soring? Get yourself a kia or a Honda. The price seems kinda high I wouldnt pay over 14k. I bought my 04 for 10k.

Prices on diesels are high here, private party on KBB here is around 23K. The cheapest king ranch i could find other than this one was 26K. Diesel fuel here is the same price often cheaper than gas.

I may just use the bully dog for the display.

To give a reference of price. I have an 07 KR that I bought with 116k miles in June of 2010. I paid just over 20 for it. That was considered a real good price at the time.

But remember, mine came with a Ford ESP Warranty till 144k or Feb 2014, ARP studs, and 6 month old 35s. Just tryin to give you something to base the pricing off of.

I did buy mine with 116k on it though, not 80k, but, mine is 2 years newer.
