Coolant Smell...
ok, so i've been noticing a faint coolant smell when i walk around the front of my truck. Its not a very strong smell but i smell coolant for sure. I don't smell it inside the truck and i'm not seeing any white smoke out the tailpipe.
I do want to pull the EGR valve and clean that good so that will be a good time to check the EGR cooler out. Any ideas on what to look for before I pull the EGR valve? truck is a 2007 6.0 totally stock except for a edge insight CTs |

check for moisture on front of engine, my 02 6.0 would leak out of the bottom of the water pump only after I shut engine off, would not leak while engine running, it did this for several thousand miles before finnally spewing, sometime just a very little would leak and somtime maybe a pint or so.

Another thing to check is your radiator. Specifically the areas where your plastic tanks (top and bottom) meet the aluminum fins in the center. Mine seeped from there quite a bit. It's a fairly common problem with these trucks. The good news is that the radiator is fairly easy to replace. Hope this helps!

yea, I forgot about the radiator, at about 160,000 the whole bottom of mine blew out.

Have you done a flush recently? If so you may have just have some residue that gets heated up and stinks alittle. Just a thought.
