turbo is shot.. now what

just looking for some insight and opinions..

i have an 03 dually and the turbo is shot.. i have been looking around on here to see if there is a rebuild kit but can't find anything.. so my next option is to buy a used one.. well that scares me too.. so i drop 3-500 on a used one that is just that.. used.. i have bought and sold on forums before so im not new to that whole ordeal either..

my next option is just pony up on a pmax and call it a day.. the problem there is cost. i have the money just would rather spend it on other stuff. such as sct and custom tunes..

also i just got this truck a few weeks ago.. it seems to run pretty good. its studded and deleted. has stacks. (that i hate) ccv mod and i have the blue spring and bajo's on the bench ready to go in.. just worried im goin to throw a new turbo on her and something else will go wrong since i havn't really had the chance to put to many miles on her.

so what would you guys do??

watch ebay. i've seen NIB reman turbos going for $400... used ones go for less but it's worth the gamble for what you save.

First thing is you gotta make a decision on the turbo and then a good monitoring system to see the state of the engine before going any farther. ECT and EOT delta for sure. What pillar gauges are installed?

i plan on getting the cts asap.. as far as gauges go i have egt, trans, boost. going to take the trans out and put fuel psi in its place. along with the cts for everything else..

If you get the PM, I suggest upgrading the intake turbine/wheel with the Batmowheel.


All that as been posted above CAN be found cheaper if you do more searching. Except for the $1,098 powermax. That was a shock to me. I have never seen the PM cheaper than ~$1,180

At $1,098, I STRONGLY suggest getting the PM now. And then the Batmowheel when ever you feel like it.
