Strategy...Tuner...What to do??

So, I've been reading so much about FICM tuning and strategies that I think my head might explode!

Checked out PHP and it sounds like I could benefit from a different strategy (running VXCF9H7 now) and FICM tune. Sounds like $300 bucks for both if I'm reading it right which seems like a lot, but if it helps my fuel economy...

Is anyone using any of the "custom power levels" that you can choose from? I'm assuming that if you get that, then that's what it will always be, right?

I'm not looking to hit the track or anything, but I figure if it's included in the price I might as well get a little performance out of it.

It also sounds like if I use one of the custom power levels, it may not jive with a tuner if I decide to do that some day? And it sounds like the Gryphon from PHP forces you to use ONLY PHP tunes, so I would probably go with a SCT of some sort.

I'm going to be installing a V3 system soon too. Any thoughts on strategy and or tuning when running WVO? I know it's more of a question for the alt fuel section, but you 6.0 guys are mostly on here anyway.

Not sure if there's a clear question here...I've searched the site quite a bit but if anyone knows of a thread that spells it all out clearly please let me know.

Thanks!

If you get a custom tune on an SCT it will be built on and therefore the truck will run on whatever strategy the tuner feels best for your model year...Seems most common is the VXCF4 for 05+......So in this case you would really only need the FICM tuning and if always running a custom tune the ECM will be "Rolled back".

The Gryphon, from what I understand is just Edge Evo hardware Bill uses to write/download his own flashes. He uses it for roll back and tuning of Both ECM/FICM and then SCT tunes can write over the ECM, that's how mine is setup right now. And the FICM is only $150

I went ahead and got both so I can still run the better EBP reading strategy on my '03. So far with the FICM tuning and spartan Hybrid race tune looks like I'll be getting around 700miles a tank.

ETA: IMO, If your wanting to use SCT or other tunes on the ECM I would just go with a stock rollback should you decide to actually roll it back.

I can't say anything about the product since we're stopped sponsoring (we just don't have time to get around to all the forums in a timely way!), but you may want to go back and check the prices. You misread something about ECM Rollbacks that could save you some money.
