Do 03's and 04's really have most of the issues?

Ever since i bought my truck, every 6.0 owner has told me to "watch out, cause 03 and 04's have the most problems." But every time i log into facebook, my buddy has a new not so good status update about his 06. Its been through 2 egr coolers, new turbo, fuel pump, ficm, ect and has about 100k miles. Ive got over 230k on my early 04 and it runs perfect. Im guessing the better egr cooler and turbo saved these pre face lift 6.0's? I also see alot of high mileage early 6 liters on craigslist that dont have any issues. So i dont get why everybody in my school keeps telling me that "its gonna blow soon" or some other bs cause its an 04 with alot of miles, when their new front end style 6.0 has problems left and right.

they dont have diferent egr coolers i dont think. the only difference in turbos is the vanes and how loud they are. its really a crap shoot. some 03s never have problems and some have all kinds of problems same with 07s. its about how the previous owner took care of it. dont listen to your friends. there just jealous

The 03 and 04 engines do in fact have a different design of an EGR cooler. They use a shell-and-tube design that is far more reliable than what Ford went to in 05.

These early model years don't have the high pressure oil system leaks that the later model years have either (no STC fitting for 03 and 04 engines and no dummy plugs for the o3 engines).

I know that the discharge of these early pumps have a form of a quick connect fitting, but it was better supported and did not fail at the frequency of the STC fitting. Now the early HPOP's, well that is a little different story .....

I'll tell you what, it's a lot like forums, one or two people say these are your issues, watch out for this, this is the best, etc. there are always people that will repeat and stand behind what one person said because that's what they heard, or feat, etc.

Truth of the matter is lots of folks will say dodge is the best, Allison is the best or whatever but they have no real knowledge of the product, what fails, or what's strong. I like the early builds mileage, power and turbo but anything will fail when a new product comes out. I heard 6.0s were garbage and I was weary but learned about the weak spots and how to fix it.

i know for a fact mine is. it runs like a raped ape and his doesnt, plain and simple lol. he is running superchips programmer and straight piped to 6inch aussie stacks. ive been in it and it is a dog compared to mine. i will have to get a video up when me and him pull. havent raced him yet but we will when he feels his truck is running right

My early 03 is Approaching 130k with zero problems. Other then 1injector under warranty. That is it! I'm hoping for 200k+ there is tons on Craigslist around here with 200k+
