Gold is not CAT EC-1 rated. It is the reason the 6.0 has so many problems. You will have to provide the right coolant for them if they will even do it. There is a lot of information here about the issues with Ford G-05 coolant. I am sure they will chime in here real soon. PGreenSVT, I think is one of the most knowledgeable and has a lot of info attached to his signature for some good reading.

No the CAT EC-1 Rated coolant is not Gold it is RED and i would be worried also if i had Ford do a coolant flush. There flush may take from a 1/2hr to 1hr mine took 12.5hrs big difference.

of course he does, he just reads a script from ford, and then need job security, but the gold needs to be flushed and replaced or your oil cooler will look like this, I would also ask them to run a test to see what the temp differance between oil and coolant temps are (they should be 15*)

PGreenSVT is a site moderator, in his signature has info for flushing. You can pm him also, for the info. He probably will see this soon and answer anyway.

Yes there is an EC-1 rated yellow colored coolant. It is Rotella Ultra ELC. If you want to avoid the frustration of a discussion of coolant color at a dealer service desk during a warranty claim dispute but want to make a transition to an EC-1 rated coolant then Rotella Ultra ELC provides that opportunity. The only way to distinguish between G-05 and Rotella Ultra ELC would be with test strips for molybdates (Ultra ELC has it, G-05 doesn't...and yes, moly is hands-down, no-contest superior as a cooling system additive).

Green = Go
Yellow = Proceed with caution
Red = Stop

Well, as far as coolant and the 6.0 goes, it is the other way around. Always run red, if you have yellow take care of it (meaning change it every 20k and filter it always, if you are using green just stop now.

Bottom line, the yellow crap destroyed these motors.
