Winter Oil

Hey guys i live on the canadian border in michigan so it tends to get pretty cold. Anyway i work 12 hour night shifts and my truck doesnt start verygood in the mornings and it will not start using the remote. ford said to switch oil to 10w30 but i was wondering what you guys run and what is the thinist possible oil i can run thanks

There's tons of threads here on oil. Not only on oil, but threads on Rev-X as well which may help you out. I also live in Canada and I can tell you that I just changed my oil for the first time in my truck and used Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40. It's an awesome oil, about 1000kms in so far. You can get this at a TSC in Canada or make a trip to the States to grab it up cheaper.

Another vote for 5w40 synthetic oil. I use Mobil 1, but there are many other good oils of the same weight. That plus a dose of Rev-X will do wonders for your injectors this winter...

I had a look around, but Mobil 1 was just way to pricey on the Northern side of the border. and much harder to find. I was able to get the Premium Blue Extreme locally at my TSC.

I use the rotella t6. If you have a lot of trouble starting try some Rev-x as well, and like said before check your ficm

Changed my truck over too Rotella T6 5-40 a couple months ago and cold starting is way better now.

Nothing wrong with Premium Blue. Its good oil. These trucks love a 5w40 weight synthetic oil.

I am another T6 user. This is my first winter with this truck so I have no prior experience, but I read nothing but rave reviews about going 5w40 full synthetic. My truck had a stiction issue when I bought it and 2 doses of Rev-X later, it's running quite well.

X2, the colder it gets the more you'll see problems from a weak FICM and weak batteries, check both before you take out some injectors!
