Glow Plug Run Time
Does anyone know the exact run time of the 6.0 glow plugs? I got a remote start gift certificate. I want to set this up correctly!!!! They do a lot of diesels (some of the Steelers have diesel superdutys an they go to this shop). Thanks guys!

The glow plug on time is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and is a function of oil temperature, barometric pressure and battery voltage. The PCM enables the GPCM that drives the individual glow plugs. Glow plug on time normally varies between 1 and 120 seconds. In addition to PCM control, the GPCM internally limits the glow plug operation to 180 seconds regardless of PCM commanded on time.
Word for word from the OBD system pdf I have.

Cool! So think a 60 second wait time is too long?!?!

60 second wait time for what? If you are waiting that long I see no point. The WTS light goes out way before that. I'd do a delay for 20 seconds then start.

just because the WTS light is out doesnt mean the plugs shut off, they stay on for up to 180 seconds IIRC. i think 45 seconds would be about perfect.
