edge insight oil pressure

did anyone ever get this to work on the edge insight???

they claim it is a PID but mine don't work. I have not updated in a couple of months though

note my truck is an 04 so knowing my luck this feature is probably only for the 05 and newer

No 6.0 has an accurate oil pressure sender (factory installed). The one that is on the truck for that useless gauge on the dash is called an oil pressure SWITCH for a reason. It basically turns on the dash gauge to read normal when the switch detects anything over 5psi. It doesn't move the gauge in relation to actual pressures, just on/off.

There is no way to monitor low oil pressure pressure thru the PCM, because the PCM does not read this in any way. You can monitor high pressure oil pressure, which is known as ICP pressure.

If you want to see low oil pressure pressure you need to rig up your own sending unit or gauge.

If the truck does not have sufficient low oil pressure it will starve the high pressure system out and the truck won't run. Guess this is the reasoning Ford used for not having a variable reading sensor. It would still be nice though. Especially on a 6.4 where they don't use a HEUI injector and it will stay running with low oil pressure.

Correct. With latest software update from EDGE the CTS will monitor ICP (and also FICMV, amongst other things)...
