Stock Straight pipe

Hey guys was wondering friend of the familys owns muffler shop were im from and he removed the muffler and cat on his stock 6.0 exhaust and it sounded pretty sweet! what really got me was the whistle he got out of it. I was wonderign what you all thought about doing this to my 05 6.0 he told me he could do for $80 or do you think i should just save my money and just buy mbrp 4in turbo back come spring thanks!!

I've done it. It was just too loud for my liking. If you like that loud whistle then go for it and save the money towards other mods.

My dad just bought a 6.0 with stock straight pipe and it sounds pretty good. It's not as loud as my 4 inch straight pipe though. If your going for sound, I say get 4 inch.

Deleting the cat and muffler helps the eng out a good amount. I would do it!

If you have no plans for bigger power adders(injectors, turbo(s)) that'll work just fine. The muffler and cat are like breathing through a straw compared to a culvert pipe.

If you are doing it just for the whistle, you will be hugely disappointed with the year of your trucks turbo.

straight pipe no muffler no cat for sure. it'll let your truck breathe and it'll sound great, even on my 05 6.0 the turbo sounds great, not as crazy as an 03 but oh well.

Did it on my 03, loved it. Helped drop the EGT's when towing as well which was nice.

Now that I have my 08 6.4L I sure do miss that whistle!

I was gonna do it, but I can get a magnaflow 4 inch SS turboback with a new downpipe and everything for 400 bucks. Im just gonna go for that. I might have to run a muffler delete pipe Will a 5 inch flow any better? I want the lowest EGTs that I can get.

with a stock turbo and stock injectors, no one has proven you will see a change in egt's with delete pipes, 4" and 5".
If you have delete pipes and need lower egt's, getting a bigger exhaust system will not do it to the effect of satisfying your efforts by getting the bigger system.
