Quiet 6.0?

I bought a 6.0 psd a few months ago, its 100% stock to the floor mats. It seems to me as though it doest have nearly the amount of "engine clatter" that most 6.0s do my father has one of the same year, and at work all of the 6.0's seem to be alot more clattery than mine. I was just curious why this might be? all of these trucks are stock exhaust. Thanks

There is a strategy that has "pilot injection" in it and it makes the engine real quiet. Your dad's probably doesn't have pilot injection and your's probably does. Nothing to worry about. Ford did that because back in the early days of the 6.0 people where complaining about the engine clatter and turbo whistle. Hence the pilot injection and the resonators/redesign of the turbo. If you can pull your strat I'm sure that there is someone on here that can tell you if you do have pilot injection.

Yep, only the '03-'04's had the hood lining.

I've often wondered this also. My 03 is much quieter than my dads 07. Inside and out.

actually pilot injection was deleted after the inferred EBP recall. no trucks should still have it

a quiet idling 6.0 could be a biased ICP sensor..........or so I've heard

The first oil change I did on my truck, I put in Amsoil 5w-40 and it was much quieter.

03 turbos sound awesome!

stock tuning my truck is super quiet. throw in my SLR tune or any other and its a louder. i love it!
