So finally after reading about 6000 how tos on coolant flushing I went for it this weekend. I comepletely halfazzed it and it still worked haha! Heres what I did...
12/9/11- On ride home from work pick up generic diesel coolant system flush from a cummins dealer. Didnt even have a brand name. Also got 1 quart of Vc-9, think you should use 2 though. Today on my 100mile commute my temps were ect 180-184 eot 225-230
12-11-11- Begin flush 9am. Dump Flush additive into radiator and run on high idle for 12 minutes then drain. Next I flushed 5 times wih distilled water, each time running high idle for a hour. Then I added 1 quart of fords vc-9 and flushed. Now about the 6th or 7th flush I got tired of being burned by draining the block so I was just draining the radiator. All in all I flushed about 13 times to get the water clear coming out of the radiator.
12-12-11- Today drove the truck for about 40mi. Ect and Eot 186 dead even

! And as a bonus I have heat now, thats been gone for bout 2yrs.
Thanks for everyones write ups and tips, made this job a breeze! Now time for studs and huge obnoxious power
