06 F350 Psd - Oil Change...Best oil to use
Is an oil called Rotella OK for my truck ? Currently, I drive 16 miles to the dealership for oil changes. I drive 4 miles for Tire rotation & balance performed by the local Goodyear dealer. I want to have both services done at the same time at the same dealer. Ford is using Motorcraft 15 w 45synthtic. Goodyear will use Rotella...not sure what grade. Would sure appreciate your suggestions. Oil changes will cost almost the same at both places ( $ 105.00 ). I want to drive 8 miles for service instead of 32 roundtrip.Thanks......Bob

I switched from Rotella to Mobile 1 Synthetic
Mobile 1 Synthetic quieted down my truck and started up nicer in the cold weather. Save yourself some money and change it yourself, it takes 10 minutes |

+1 For changing it yourself. Just stay away from Delo - I made that mistake and it starts like crap in cold weather.

I use Amsoil, it is really expensive though ($180 - 4 gal), and most places don't stock it. I used to use Rotella T6. Whatever you use make sure that it is a full synthetic, also make sure that it is 5w-40. I do give a +1 to DIY.

I use rotella T-6 synthetic cause you can buy it right at wal mart. You'll find that a TON of people used it with good results.

I run T-6 as well and yes do it yourself! very easy!

I run T6. I ran the T5 for a bit but didn't like it. I wouldn't suggest using the regular Rotella 15w-40, even though it is cheaper and is tempting.

Who ever does it, make sure they are using the proper filters. (Ford should, but Goodyear may not!) If not, the least of your worries would be which diesel rated oil to go with.
Just saying. |
