Went to the International store today and.....

I ordered the upgraded FPR spring kit, only $25 compared to like 1 million at the dealer. I also asked for a thermostat, I belive mine is stuck open and I am going to replace it when I do a flush soon. Anyways, he had one hell of a time finding it, probably because I didn't have a part # like the FPR kit. He finally found it and it said it was a kit I belive with a housing? It was $40, that seems high to me. Has anyone else ordered an IH thermostat? And I thought you can remove them from the housing so couldn't I just order the thermostat by itself?

I paid $28 for a thermostat from the Ford dealer.

No, the thermostat is built into the housing that the hose goes onto, so it's all one piece. Some people pull the actual thermostat out of the housing for flushing purposes, but in order to buy a new one you must buy the whole thermostat and housing.

You can also get awesome prices on high pressure oil rail standpipes, and the replacement fitting for the HPOP STC fitting. Although your truck doesn't have the STC fitting but does have the standpipes. I pay $25 bucks for the STC fitting kit and $38 for the standpipes. OEM head gaskets are also much cheaper thru International then Ford.

I used to work at International so I get a hell of a discount but they're still cheaper then Ford on most stuff.

So why do you think the thermostat is $40 when Lihpooh got his for $28 from the dealer?

Not everything is cheaper from International. It's really weird. Some things are cheaper from both places. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Just a matter of price shopping.

I usually get FICM half shells from Ford at $275. I asked International about a half shell and the parts guy didn't even know what I was talking about when I said a half shell. Even weirder because when you get one from Ford it has International all over it. International never sells them. Yet I found the release letter with the part number and International only wanted $100 bucks for it, but they didn't show any in the system. Still waiting on them to get me one......

Would you care to share that part number? Would that $100 be for others or is that your price?

That was my price, but I don't think it was much over that for list. I just asked him to order me one about a week ago but haven't heard anything. He said it wasn't showing up any in the system so it would have to come from the manufacture and there was no way to tell when it would show up. Strange since Ford doesn't seem to have a shortage on them and the Ford one has a International part number...... Here's the International letter on it.

Correction, I said I was getting FICM half shells from Ford at $275. I meant to say $375. So I was shocked when International told me $100. I need to get to the bottom of this.....
