Remote start

I am wanting to put a remote start on my truck but have a concern about it. From what I understand about them you push the button then you vehicle turns right on from there. But being a diesel you can't just do that especially with it getting colder and colder outside cause you have to wait for the glow plugs to warm up. So back to my main concern can I use a regular remote start or is there a specific one I can get that turns on power so I can let the glow plugs warm up for a few then crank it over or should I just not get one cause it would be bad on the engine?

Most have a start delay built in. I have one and have it set for a 15 second delay which is plenty of time for the glow plugs to do their thing. I recommend the Viper 5701

I looked up the viper 5701 and it says on the website that they aren't diesel compatible.

They are, I promise I have one installed on my truck. You just have to set the built in start delay.

I ended up with the Viper 5901. There is not a wait-to-start circuit so, like has been said, you have to use a start delay. They put mine at 30 sec when it was installed.

I have an AutoPage on mine and it delays about 30 seconds. Works great. My office is a long way from the parking lot and it always works from my office. Also the remote has an LCD readout that confirms the truck is starting, locked, unlocked or whatever. It's nice because you know when you jump out and run in somewhere then wonder...did I lock my truck? Just look at the remote.
