More questions about my '07 F350

I've been searching, reading, and trying to pick up the answers to my questions. Some I've found, others have caused some new questions.

I understand that everyone recommends CAT ELC-1, but why cat? What does it have that an 'off the shelf' ELC silicate free coolant doesn't? I would prefer that my fluids be readily available, so if I can pick up a gallon of concentrate at a local parts house, then I would be happier. However, if my truck, and therefore my wallet, will be happier long term with a less convenient product, then I will learn to live with it.

I've picked up a Napa 4019 filter kit, and a Napa 4070 filter (no additives). I am planning on adding a pair of brass 90* ball valves (I think they are for natural gas lines so they ought to be rated at a high enough pressure) to make filter change easier. Will the brass be fine with the coolant or should I find some valves out of a different material. Also, I read somewhere that teflon tape is not compatible with the ELC. What kind of joint compound can I get that is compatible?

Just purchased an Insight CTS, will it adjust the PCM for tire size? Or does it just adjust its own displays? Can the dealer adjust tire size in the PCM or do I need a SCT or similar?

Thanks in advance.

as long as the coolant is cat ec-1 rated you will be fine. Rotella makes some zerex also, there are many brands. I dont see why brass shouldnt hold up, as for the teflon tape, thats new to me.. maybe try some loctite 577? And the cts will only adjust its own display. I believe ford can set that, not sure if it can be written into a file on a sct or not. I would guess yes, but thats only a guess.
