04 6.0! To buy or not to buy???

Upgraded my toy hauler so need to upgrade my Chevy 1500 to a 2500. I have negotiated a 04 4wd f250 lariat 6.0 with 71k. Dealer says its stock and it looks like it. Car fax does not show any engine work(turbo, head, eye etc) some people say to stay away from the 6.0. What do you think? Do I buy, pray she doesn't have issues and set up a repair fund? The truck is sold by a ford dealer. I intend to use her a my daily driver and pull a 30' 11000lbs toy hauler 3-4 times a year. I won't try to beat the fastest 1/4 mile toy hauling record bit I won't have a 130 yr old great great great and greater granma leave me in the dust at a taffic light. Dealer is expecting me today....So to commit or not commit? THANKS(Hondax5 stands for my five Cbr bikes. Not a cager)

Don't pay any attention to the car fax what so ever. Have the dealer pull an oasis report for you. This will tell you all that has been done to the truck at a ford dealer. Maintenance is key on the 6.0. Treat it right and it'll treat you right. I'd buy another 6.0 in a heartbeat.

I have the same truck I bought brand new "my dream truck" and have 71k on it.I have already had the oil cooler replaced and the egr cooler replaced and the degas bottle. I have a camper I tow as well. I am in the process of a BPD install. The first thing I woud do is the oasis report then spend the 4k to 6k bullet proofing the truck depending on your ability to do the work yourself. Good luck and read these post they will give you the info you need to make your decision..

Great information THANKS!
I have to admit I have my heart pretty set on getting the truck and I am hoping for the best BUT I am still not on my way to the dealer yet so it's a good sign...I don't want to regret this. Another thing I'd like to run by you....$22k + say 6k on bullet proofing makes it a $28k truck....does it still sound like a good deal? I intend to keep the truck 7 or 8 years with 10-12k a year. I really appreciate your input. Thanks again

Interesting offer but I want to stick to non dually for now and right now if I buy a 6.0 it will be the dealers I saw. I will have the oasis pulled and see. Still wondering if you guys that have bought the truck think that a 22k price and possibly a 6k bullet proof is a good purchase...

that depends on the condition of the truck. if it's a nice clean lariat truck then it'll be worth it. if it's rusted or showing it's age then it's not worth 22k

I would consider it in "excellent" condition. I'd like to try and get at least 3 months warranty instead of 1....

22 sounds a little high. I payed only slightly higher than that for my 03 with 45000 miles 5 years ago in mint condition. Are you able to do any work yourself? You can do the bullet proofing for a lot less. It's mostly labor costs.
