To Buy or Not to Buy - Truck

New here - thanks in advance for the replys.

I used to have a ford truck a couple years ago. The thing was a beast and might still have it today, if it was not totaled.

Now I am getting the itch again. I have my eye on a 2004 F250 - 6.0, less than 100K miles.

What should I look for when deciding to pruchase this? Are there some dead give-aways that would make you run from buying this truck?

Thanks!

pop the hood and see if there is any coolant puking or on the outside of the overflow bottle. i would go buy a scantool so you can check the vitals of the truck. ceck the engine oil temp vs engine coolant temp, if there is a 15 deg difference then your going to need to replace the oil cooler soon and if you do buy it as soon as you can delete the egr cooler if you are not in california or a place that does diesel emissions. any more questions feel free tol ask and welcome to the org.

Do u know of any professional diesel mechanics close by? Bring the 6.0 over and have them take a look. The person/dealer selling should have no problem if you do. That would be your safest bet.

its really a crap shoot.. you really cant tell if the motor has damage but that would be a big walk away sign. if the motor is really dirty and doesnt look like he has took care of it then he probably hasnt
