Wind Deflector for towing
I am thinking about adding an AeroShield wind deflector for towing my 5th whl and wondering if anyone is using one or one like it and if you see any fuel milage increase?

The problem with these gadgits is they tend to take a while to recover any savings.
It's not that they don't work. Looks like the front end of your fiver is flat which is defintely bad for aerodynamics. We had a flat nose stick built fiver that only weighed 7k pounds and we now have a fiver with a full aerodynamic fiberglass front cap that weighs around 11k and we get the same fuel mileage when loaded. I will say, I would take what ever their advertised gains are and cut them in half or more. Call me a pessimist. |

Yes, its an old trailer and about as aerodynamic as a brick. Was just hoping I would get some stories on how great these are and gained some mpg's, probably not the case. I did put an airgate on and hope this will help some, if nothing else I won't have to put the tailgate down to hook up my 5whl.

Like said before, it will be a long time before your money is re-couped after the parts and labar, and there its on there when your not towing. I wouldnt consider it unless all you did with your truck was tow, and you towed often, then I might consider. My setup is not aerodynamic at all, so I understand the benefits if it were, would be nice...
