Unison ring placement.
Yesterday I decided to clean my turbo while it was out. I know you're supposed to mark the unison ring placement on the cam but my ring stuck to the compressor side of the turbo and didn't stay in the vanes and cam. It then fell off about half way up and I have no idea the orientation of it. It was easy to tell where the ring should go and I got it reassembled on the actuator cam pretty quick. After that i got to thinking, is there a way to install it wrong? For instance if the vanes were open all they way and installed the cam in the closed position and it tried to open them further, or If I installed the vanes in the closed position and the cam in open position and it tried to close them more? Is
This even possible? I know it's kinda hard to follow but it would make me Sleep better tonight knowing it was right. Thanks. Sent from my Autoguide iPhone app |

There is only one way to put the turbo back together. As long is it mated up ok then you have it right. The PCM is going to control the vane position where it wants. As long as you got the cam lobe in the unison ring it's fine. If anything was out of whack it wouldn't have gone back together.

I know for sure the cam is in the hole of the unison ring. I'll sleep good tonight!

Haha! Yeah, your fine. If you don't mark things as you take it apart it can be like a puzzle getting it back together, but if it went together then it's good. Glad you'll sleep good knowing that!
