Safe RPM limits
Im running the srl+ tune from gearheads and love the way it pulls without the lightswitch effect of some other tunes. My only question is how many rpm is the 6.0 good for. Im asking because matt sets the rev limiter to 4000 rpm on that tune and sais its safe. I know that stock rev limit is 3650 which is actually a little higher than the international vg365. thats where the extra horse comes from in stock form. I just wanted some imput from you guys as to how safe this is as im just not sure if im comfortable with running the engine that fast.

I thought the stock rev limit was like 3900-3950? Most 6.0's stock will put the tach around the 3900 mark. I've never watched RPM's with a scan tool to get an exact number though.
SCT canned tunes put the rev limit at 4050 and I have a ton of customers that run them and have never had issues. |

Thats good to know, i know my truck shifts slightly before that but i havent checked with a scan tool either. the manual said not to go anything over 4000 i think

SCT tuners give you the option to bump it up to 5000 RPM which is WAY to high for a stock truck. Really giving it another 100 RPM over stock isn't going to hurt anything, because like you said most times it shifts before that anyway. I'd throw that tune in it and let it eat!

Yep, most custom tunes are set to 4150. Mine has seen that many many times without an issue.
