Ficm grommets

I got a new ficm and it has no mounting grommets. My old one had the grommets but its gone for the core. I've read 50/50 that you need them and dont need them. I really don't see how you could mount it without them to be honest. So do I need to get a new set?

Definately need them! Heat and vibration are the leading culprits to electronic component failure.

I think he has an 03. The FICM on the 03 had bushings at the FICM mount to the valve cover bolts and the bushings were on the FICM itself. The FICM on the 05-newer there are bushings down at the mounting on the valve cover and no bushings on the FICM itself.

Can't get the ficm back. I sent my ficm to quick tricks to get the 58v upgrade. Everything went great until UPS lost it on the way back to me. No questions asked quick tricks sent me a new one but it's from another year truck without the grommets. Assuming I was going to get mine back I left them in.

I would take a trip to Lowes, the hardware aisle, and see what you can come up with as far as the grommets. That is what I will be doing, since I am removing the '06 (2-piece stamped steel) FICM bracket and replacing it with an 03 FICM bracket (1-piece solid aluminum mount).

My 05 has no grommets. I just bolted it in. I kind of get a kick out of worrying about vibration. My 6.0 is so smooth at idle if you couldn't hear it you wouldn't know it was running.

on the later years the grommets are on the bottom of the bracket where the valvecover studs are

Just curious, but why would you do this? Seems to me the later setup is a better design. I think the later year style provides more "suspension" and vibration protection then the 03 style. The stupid little rubber isolators in the 03 style always are chewed up and it's more of a PITA to take off then later years.

To the OP, Ford can't get you the isolators? You could check at International, all their FICM's/PCM's use them on the VT365 engine. You'll have to tell them you need the rubbers for the PCM. On an International the FICM and PCM are mounted together and the PCM uses the same bushings that you need for the Ford FICM.
