I just bought a 03 f350 6.0psd single cab 4x4 drw with 84,000 miles on it ..ive checked my mileage twice now and im averageing 15-16 mpg mixed driving ,is this about normal? I kinda thought it would be alittle better cuz its got a full 4 inch mbrp exhaust...anything else i can do to improve this? Thanks alot

Putting on a less restricted air filter and a better flowing intake elbow will help a little. Also, I gained about one mpg getting rid of EGR. My '05 mileage took a nose dive once and the mechanic recommended double dosing my fuel with a good quality fuel additive for a couple tanks. I suggest putting in Rev-X.

Stock air filter is good to at least 500hp and the aftermarket filters can mess up your turbo.

15-16 is pretty good, mixed driving. I am seeing 13-14mpg with a bone stock CCSB 6.0. My ext cab saw 15-16 mixed bone stock too. The EGR delete helped it as well afterwards.
Edit: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/phantom3k Here are my fuelly information on both my trucks, both are stock (i dont have the 250 anymore tho) Last edited by phantom-3k; 11-11-2011 at 07:31 AM. |

DRW = 4.10 gears almost always, and I'm betting you have an automatic. You are going to be limited with that setup for the 20mpg range. You could get custom tuning from PHP or Innovative, etc.; Or try something like the Edge Mileage Max tuner. Those will offer you your best mpg gains.

IMO there is nothing that cleans the air better then the stock air cleaner which is why I have two in parallel. I agree with you that most aftermarket filters let too much thru to the turbo.
