Used 04 F350 6.0 Craigslist Find

So I came across this truck today on Craigslist and I'm wondering if it could be a decent buy.. Here's the link to the ad:

2004 Ford F350 XLT Crew Cab Diesel flatbed

He's only asking $3,500 for it. I called and talked to the guy on the phone and he owns a body shop and picked it up on some deal. Anyways... He replaced the batteries in it and it still won't start. He cranked on it while I was on the phone with him and it sounds like it's cranking really slowly. He said some diesel mechanic told him the starter wasn't spinning fast enough to make it fire...? Anyways, knowing how finicky a 6.0L is, I'm wondering if it isn't something fairly small that's causing it to not start. For all I know, the starter could very well be bad, but I haven't looked at it first hand to see or listen. I'm hoping to take my Edge or my X3 with me to pull some codes on it and see exactly whats up. Definitely going to inspect the fluids and check them out. But if nothing really seems out of the ordinary, do you all think it could be a buy?

Too weird. I literally hung up the phone with him before posting this. He said he had quite a bit of interest immediately. I'm guessing he sold it already. Might have missed a deal!
