03-04 6L trucks more power than 05+?

It seems that with every 6L that ive been in, the 03-04 ones just seem to have slightly more "thrust" and response to them over the face lifted 6.0s. Ive read that this is because the 06 and 07 have more emissions tuning and the 03-04 have the better turbo? I have an early 04 with just a 4'' exhaust from the turbo back no cat/muffler, and the motor is like an angry animal when my foot wants it to be haha, even being basically stock with 228,000 miles. I do run xpd fuel additive and "hot rod" it every now and then to clear out the motor a bit so that might help. My buddies 06 with a straight pipe just doesnt seem to have the thrust like mine does, even with half the mileage. Thoughts?

8 Is the magic number when it comes to trucks.. 8 lugs, 8 foot bed, 8 cylinders

I've often thought the same thing to myself, but never really knew why. The 05-07's just don't have the jump like my 04 does. Not to mention, the 05-07's that I have drove/rode in don't have near the mean sound like the older style. Even with exhaust, etc. Idk??

I know what y'all mean. My truck is an asphalt eating, flame throwing machine. I was wondering the same thing.

Strategy on the older trucks? Only 6.0 I've been in is my 06. Seems to scoot pretty good.

My guess would be strategy, camshaft is a little different, and piston's combustion chamber was changed.
