Do I have a modded 6.0 turbo???HELP
I have an 05 6.0, turbo bushings wiped out, compressor wheel contacted housing. I purchased an "03" from a member on here with unknown mileage. it has the 10 vane turbine wheel and whistles very nice. Now my understanding is that the 03 is exactly the same as the 05 minus the 10 vane turbine, also the compressor housing has a removable silencer ring, 04-07 has to be cut off. my problem is this, I tried putting my 05 compressor housing on my 03, it wont go over the wheel, the 03 inducer wont fit the 05 housing! And this 03 housing has a fixed silencer ring not a removable one! Is this a powermax / hybrid/ wicked wheel? Or is the 03 comp wheel bigger than 05? Or did the f650-750 use a bigger comp wheel than the f350? Garrett PN-1837984C94

First: The silencer ring on the early-'03 trucks was easily removable. Any turbo after that the ring would need to be machined out. If it has been hacked off you could still use the turbo but the compressor housing is garbage IMO.
I don't think the '03 housing are compatible with other year turbos. Post up some pics of the turbo you want to swap in. |

My 03 looks identical to my 05. I guess what I'm asking is, does an 03 have a bigger comp wheel than an 05, hence why the housing won't fit?

That is what I have read, the 03 compressor wheel is just a bit bigger.
