EGR Delete Kit question

What is the up pipe for in an EGR delete kit? Like this kit for instance:
6.0L FORD F250-350 UNF DIESEL EGR VALVE DELETE KIT | eBay

If I have a 4" straight pipe exhaust from turbo to tip, no cats, no muff, then do I need an up pipe in the EGR delete or can I order one without it?

The up pipe has nothing to do with your cat back and yes it's best to get it with the up pipe

The up-pipe is required, no matter what size your exhaust system is. The up-pipe connects to the exhaust manifold and the y-pipe that feeds the turbo. Your exhaust system starts at the other side of the turbo. Basically, the up-pipe deletes the EGR cooler connection to the exhaust previous to the turbo.
