Remote Start
Hey guys I got a remote start/Alarm today and they are gonna hook it up later on this evening. Was wondering what should I tell them? meaning any specifics about our trucks or diesels in general? I already was made aware to tap into the tac wire and not set it to volt sensing (thankx belz) any other tips? Thanks

Make sure they put the delay for glow plugs for when it's cold. I got a question too, do all remote starts when u start them and you go to drive off you have to turn it off and restart it to drive?

Make sure the delay is set for a minute. You have to get in and turn the key on before the truck will move. If you touch the brake without the key in the run position the truck will shut down.

The max delay my Viper is 20 sec. That is what mine is set to. They have to know how to work with a diesel because something special has to be wired. I think it was a RPM signal from the engine.

Some require a tach signal inverter to operate properly.

Mine is the same, I did a 3 min. cool down. I think mine has a remote tach. or something like that from what the installer said.

No, once you get in the truck, put the key in, turn to on position and when u hit brake, ull hear it click off.

Mine is an AutoPage. I had it installed by qualifies alarm/remote start installers. Has worked without any problems for over 5 years. The AutoPage has a built in setting for diesels and it is set to 40 sec. delay I believe. Has a cool down turbo setting set for 5 min. A setting that will start the truck when the temps reach a set temp. as well.
