Cutting Silencer Ring

Anybody else do this or am I the only idiot? lol

I run a stock truck besides delete but when I had the turbo out I as like ahh what the heck lets do it. I cut the air bell off the housing and through it back on.

I now have about 20K on the ring cut. I cant really tell its louder inside the cab but my freinds say you can hear it outside the truck more. I have the Zoodad mod though which might be helping it out also.

Cutting the ring on the inlet of the turbo alot of Cummins guys do it. Basically makes the turbo sound louder or "cooler" for the youngsters lol.

I liked the whistle of the 03 turbo but cant just up and buy a 03 so I cut the ring off. Its basically like the smoothing bell on the way into the turbo.

The zoodad mod basically is cutting a hole in by the radiator so you get more cold air going into the airbox. I did this free mod later but after I did the ring cut people said my truck whislted more.

Lol. Honestly I couldnt tell you cause it sounds the same in the cab as it did before. But my buds I see almost every day after I did the mod said it whistles a lil more than it did. My boost pressures are still the same and all....Maybe they are just trying to make me feel the mod was worth it lol.

Removing the silencer ring doesn't increase anything on these trucks. It's not a new idea for the 6.0 guys. It may be cool for the Dodge guys but then it's a different turbo on a different motor which could have a TOTALLY different effect.
