Head Gaskets Without Pulling The Cab...

I am extremely short on money right now and I just popped a head gasket and am seriously considering trying to pull the heads in my garage to save the money on labor.

Of course I will be going back together with ARP's, but I am a little leary about doing this as I am NOT a small man and am afraid that I will not be able to get in where I need to and able to lift the heavy a$$ed heads out of there, plus have the knowledge to put it all back together.

I know that there are some good write ups on here (Lumberg's), but I am still a little worried.

Could I possibly just lift the cab just enough with a jack to get the heads out????

You can do incab heads and studs. There is a write up on here in the tech files:

srmastertech has video documentary on how to lift the cab and replace the head gaskets.

You can do it with the cab on but it will be difficult due to the smaller space.

I've done partial cab lifts on 6.4s with 2 jacks before. It could definitely be done on a 6.0 but I don't see a big advantage in doing it. the space is tight but the hardest part(and biggest advantage to pulling the cab) is the final torque down

Might be a stupid question but, if I was to figure out a way to lift the cab, would I have to remove the intake and all of that stuff like I did when I did the EGR delete and then the oil cooler?

Well the intake manifold is connected to the heads. So, I say YES to removing the intake manifold.
