Cool 04 or 06??

hey guys, i am having to get out of my truck and am getting another one, i am looking at two and what better place to turn to then here at the org?? so my question is this, the 2004 has 83k miles and the 2006 has 100k miles, they are both otherwise very similar, both xlt's etc etc, im going to do an in depth scan of the engine tomorrow morning and get oasis reports on both, i was just wondering what you guys thought? thanks

ps im not looking for any 6.0 trash talk, ive had three and never had a problem with any, just looking for general insight

-arp headstuds
-sinister egr delete
-new oil cooler
-sct custom tunes
-edge cts with egt probe
-8 inch lift with dual resevoirs up front
-dual steering stabilizers
-38 inch mud terrains
-on board air system
-5% tint all around
-4inch exhuast turbo back with 6 inch tip

to come:
-2 way alarm
-lots of LED's!!!

I would go with the 06 IMO they look better inside and out and the miles to me doesn't make that much difference

I have never had a 6.0, but I agree with the 06 looking better. Won't have to do the 05-07 front end.. Plus the dash looks better! Post up some pics though if you get a chance.

Agree here as well on the 06. If the 04 has had head gaskets and studs done as well as new oil cooler and egr cooler, the tough mechanicals are mostly taken care of. 05+ trucks also ride better and I think the steering geometry is better as well. Check for any mods as well.

Yeah, the 06 has better ratings for payload (maybe towing too). Despite higher miles everything has two fewer years of wear and tear. The 06 could have the "commonized" engine too - I think it had fewer issues with head bolt stretching.

The only thing I don't like on my 04 is turning radius because of front leaf springs. Coils on the 06 make tighter turning radius.

05-07 need an stc fitting update in the high pressure oil pump. This is a pretty critical update because if it goes you won't be able to start up the truck when hot. I would still go with the 06 though.

Dude the 6.0 is junk. JUST KIDDING. Yea, I havent had problems and the people around me never had problems.

I would do an 05+ just for the bigger brakes, turning, ride, looks. BUT I dont think it is that big of a deal. So if there is a big price difference go with the 04. When I was looking, I didnt care what year. Youre good either way!
