Head gaskets/studs to be done. What else?
2004 6.0 powerstroke 178,000 miles.
So I just did the EGR delete/oil cooler change. I believe that my head gaskets are gone too. I will be sending the cab in the air sometime this fall and wanted a list of things that you guys would do while I have the cab in the air? Also I found (from a post) Clearwater cylinder heads - Thinking about buying two new heads from them so I don't have down time and anxiety from my old heads being bad. So far I just have ARP studs on my list What gaskets are best? What else would you change while you were in there with that many miles? Have you heard anything about Clearwater heads? Thanks guys, Joel Sent from my Autoguide iPad app |

Stick with OEM gaskets.
$398 arp's from browns diesel. so far that is the cheapest that I know of. Coolant flush. Clean your turbo. should help it re-gain some faster spool-up. Change your powersteering fluid. Clean out your intake manifold from all of the egr build up. |

Ok so with some research I come to terms that this is gonna be expensive.
Remanufactured heads - $900 Arp studs - $400 Oem head gaskets - $150 (friend price) Water pump - gotta get a price still glow plugs - gotta get a price still Timing chain - gotta get a price still coolant Maybe another oil cooler? Just did it and a full flush. Restore and vc-9. Still seeing 192ect and 198eot on straights at 60 mph. 192ect and 202eot on highway at 75mph. Maybe just a reverse flush will fix it. Love the truck just hate feeling that it can die at any moment and want to drive it and enjoy it. Anything else guys? Joel Sent from my Autoguide iPad app |
