iPad w/Dash Command same as pillar guages?

I am getting ready to install an iPad into my 06 F250. I have an app called "Dash Command" you plug in a wireless controller to the OBD port and it sends everything over to the dashcommand app that tells you "crap" that is going on with your engine.

Does anybody have it? Also will it give me the same thing as pillar guages? Temps and all or do I need to install sensors to get those readings?

I would love to see picture when you get it installed. I secretly want to do the same thing. One word of caution from what I have read is to be careful with your choice of bluetooth transmitter. Basically a bluetooth transmitter plugs in to the obd connection and transmitts the data to the ipad. There is something similar for android too. Some of the "ebay type" cheapy transmitters are known to have problems.
As far as your gauges go I would say you would be able to read anything that the obd reads. Obviously you wont be able to read fuel pressure or egt's as these require seperate sensors.
Good luck and please post pictures.

It's made by a company called Palmer. The last I checked, it won't do the critical temps and psi that the 6.0 needs to be monitored (EOT, FICM,boost, among others).

IIRC, the basic app and OBDII adapter will only read basic info (mph, rpm, ect, ect). In order to read more, you needed there enhanced ford software, which cost extra. For the price of the app ($50), good OBDII adapter ($100), and scanXL enhanced ford software ($100). Even with there enhanced ford software, it still doesn't do as much as the Edge Insight CS/CTS or ScangaugeII.

Here is there website, go to there forum and research it.

My son asked "Dad, can I jailbreak your iPad?" I said sure, not knowing what he was talking about. Now he tells me that all software is free.

The DashCommand that I was ready to shell out a hundred bucks for, got it free! Now, I am not a complete arsehole. I will use the program for 30 days. If it's decent and if I will use it, I will gladly pay for it. But if it's something that I wont use (I'll know in 30 days), then I'll just delete it.

I was going to buy a cheapy OBD BT wire off of ebay. But now I am skerd.

DashCommand doesn't support the Ford enhanced software. In order to read the important sensors with the DashCommand, you will need to add these modules. Which can get very expensive!!
